Angela Ashwin has for many years been a writer on spirituality and a speaker and leader of retreats and quiet days. Her last book, Faith in the Fool: Risk and Delight in the Christian Adventure, was published by Darton, Longman and Todd in 2009. 

Angela wrote her first book, Heaven in Ordinary, in 1985, about contemplative prayer in a busy life. Since then she has written many books and has produced a CD Rom and other publications concerning prayer and everyday life with God.

Born in Birmingham, Angela graduated in Theology from Oxford University, and lectured in Old Testament Studies before spending seven years with her husband in Swaziland, Southern Africa, working with the church there. After their return to the UK, Angela combined writing and speaking with bringing up three children and being a busy vicar's wife in the North East of England. Some of her most popular books were published during this period, including the best-selling Book of a Thousand Prayers. She then worked for St Antony's Priory Ecumenical Spirituality Centre in Durham until 2004.

A new paperback edition of her Woven into Prayer: A Flexible Pattern of Daily Prayer through the Christian Year came out in 2010. Now semi-retired, she lives in Southwell, Nottinghamshire; she is a Lay Canon Emeritus of Newcastle Cathedral and a Reader in Southwell Minster.
